Summer Lessons

Summer Lessons

Good news! Summer lessons have a bit more flexibility to them.

In addition to being able to choose between weekly 30-minute lessons and bi-monthly hour lessons, you can schedule around your vacations more efficiently. There are already 5 makeup days this summer to help with rescheduling- July 29, 30, 31 & August 29 & 30. But, if we can find a better way to keep your lessons as consistent and efficient as possible (for example, it’s not that efficient to have a lesson the day before you leave for vacation..), we will!

Summer lessons will add up to 6 hours total of individual lessons. Just let me know of any trip plans so we can make these hours or half-hours count the best we can!

If you are doing group classes this summer, remember that we won’t have makeup classes unless the whole class needs to reschedule. If you make it to at least two classes a month, you’re still getting your money’s worth, so that’s pretty cool!

I really encourage 45 minute - 1 hour practice sessions at home in the summer. This can compensate for not being able to practice on trips and having more days off of practicing in general.

Longer sessions of practice can be super effective if they are organized something like this:

Warm-up: 10 minutes- scales, chords, technique, some improvising, a chord song or two

Review: 15 minutes- review songs, memory songs, fine tuning favorites by working on tricky transitions or dynamics

New: 15 minutes- new songs, taking it slow, breaking it down, focusing on tough spots

Cool Down: 5 minutes- whatever you want!

…to get to 1 hour- plug in 15 minutes of rhythm practice, sight-reading, figuring something out by ear, transposing, or more of whatever you need (or want) to work on!
